Monday blues? They don’t bother me! For most people Monday is the worst day of the week. The weekend has just finished, it’s the start of a new workweek and the next weekend is still so far away! I used to feel the same way, unfortunately. But that time has come and gone!
I’m ready to go and excited to start the day
Since I practice Pilates fulltime I can honestly say that Monday is a fun and diverse day. I’ll admit, starting at 8am does not make me jump with joy to get out of bed. Especially when I had a late night on Sunday and when it’s still cold and dark outside…but from the moment that I get in my car I’m ready to go and excited to start the day ahead of me! My Monday revolves around Pilates, for others, but for myself too! I start the day with two PT’s and a duoclass after that. I’ll grab a bite to eat, and then I’ll head to Leuven for my own training with Jeroen (GRACE Pilates studio). It’s a good combination to have others working hard in the morning, stretching and what not …and to have my turn after that! I think it’s imperative that I keep training myself too. By now I have learned that it’s good for both my body and mind. If I don’t take enough time for myself I can quickly feel the results; sore muscles, tight spinal Colum, less energy. So to keep training and being trained is a must! And of course I have fun while doing it.
A lot of energy and inspiration
Back to the Monday. I have to admit my own training with Jeroen is hard, but in a good way. We strengthen where it’s necessary, stretch and he gives me new challenges. When I get home I have a lot of energy and inspiration! It’s about an hour drive away from me, so by the time I get back about three hours have passed. Time for a refreshing shower and to get back to work! I have to prepare the group class that I teach in the evening; what do my ‘students’ need, what do I want to teach them today, what muscles do I want them to feel a bit more than usual? There’s so much I want to let them feel and experience. Sometimes it’s hard to stay out of the chaos. Aside from the wordslips I make occasionally I don’t think people really notice my chaotic side. And during my preparation I have to make sure I don’t lose sight of that. Of course, a Pilatesinstructor also has to make dinner! Time to replenish my energy and then it’s time to start the last three hours of this Monday. Three groups; all equally enthusiastic and eager to learn. And just like any other day, great to teach! In those three hours, time flies by! Before I know it it’s 9.30pm, time to clean up the studio, lights out and make my way home. Tired but satisfied I’ll lay down for a little bit and watch tv before I go to bed. Tuesday is knocking….
