About 8 years ago I went to a Fitness convention. Someone there tapped me on the shoulder and invited me to participate in a Pilates workshop. At that time I had hardly heard anything about the Pilates method but I’m always willing to try new things so I said “yes”.
Bigger than I could’ve ever dreamed of 8 years ago
I could’ve never imagined what would come after this “yes”. The one hour workshop at the convention was followed by a Basic Mat course, then PPS I, II and III and a complete comprehensive certification with Peak Pilates. Trainings and workshops in the Netherlands, Europe and far beyond that. The opening of my own studio in Oud-Beijerland, the pathway Teacher Trainer and Master Instructor with Peak Pilates. Giving my own trainings and workshops in the Netherlands and abroad, the opening of another studio in Rotterdam and my vision growing to something bigger than I could’ve ever dreamed of 8 years ago.
I’m still travelling
And I haven’t even spoken about the amazing experiences, and the interesting, remarkable, beautiful people I met in those 8 years and who I became friends with. What a beautiful journey it has been so far, and yes, I’m still travelling. When Marjolein van Sonsbeek, Editor- in- chief of Pilatesglossy asked me to write a column my first thought was “what would I write about?” Then I realized that it should be about what the readers of Pilatesglossy all have as a shared interest and passion: Pilates! Well, I have a thing or two to write about that.
Join me on my journey
My life, my body, my job, my goals, everything I do day to day is Pilates. If I look at my dayplanner for this year I see: the international Master instructor Training Camp with MI’s from Germany, Japan, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Australia and Hungary in September (my Peak Pilates family!) An MVe Chair workshop that I gave in Serbia in August (people were so warm and hospitable) In July I had the Valencia Pilates Conference with Pilates royalty such as Peter Fiasca, Brook Siler and Kathi Ross Nash (“work and play” go hand in hand, we had so much fun in Valencia!) This month we had the opening of The Pilates Place Rotterdam – my second Pilates Studio and also a Peak Pilates training center.I also have a family with, my loving husband, a beautiful 12 year old daughter and a lovely 8 year old son – him and his classmates did a real Pilates class the other day. They were so enthusiastic about Pilates! And that’s only part of this year.
I would like to invite the Pilates Glossy readers to join me on my journey, my Pilates- journey. See you soon in the next Pilatesglossy!
