Pilates makes you flexible and strong and keeps you young!

Pilates is a intelligent, functional movement method invented by the genius Joseph Pilates. Pilates gives you a great, sweaty workout wich alignes, balances and corrects you, it makes you flexible and very strong at the same time. When it is offered as a complete system (wich means with workouts both on Pilates apparatus and mat) then it will change Body and Mind dramatically. It will keep you young, fit and fabulous to an old age!

I find it thrilling that there is still so much to learn.

I am  happy to feature the lovely Julie Driver, known from PilatesAnytime, on Pilatesglossy. Julie’s studio is located in the UK (London). How did your Pilates journey begin? My journey into Pilates began back in the late 1990s when I discovered an early Sunday morning class. I loved it and became a regular 2/3 times a week. […]

Burn & Bond Pilates-Themed Parties

4 July, 2017 By Francene Perel 2 Comments

I started doing Pilates-themed parties because they are a healthy and unusual way to bring people together. Fitness parties have been around for a long time and are not a new craze or trend, they are definitely here to stay! While keeping the fun and fitness in the party, what’s different is the emphasis on […]

JOE’s 10-20-30 was kicking in!! My wife, of 25 years, passed away in 2007.  At that time I was a Second Degree Back Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  I was in need of specialized training as my Balance, Focus and Breathing were way off.  In 2009, my daughter who also was a Second Degree Black […]

16 June, 2017 By Marjolein van Sonsbeek 2 Comments

They say that age is just a number and I believe that to be true. At age 65, I’m celebrating my fifth year as a Pilates instructor and have never been happier! Not only have I experienced the benefits of Pilates but I get to share it with my clients and help them to rediscover […]

What’s meant for you won’t pass you.

16 June, 2017 By Marjolein van Sonsbeek 3 Comments

My friend Emer has a mantra, “What’s meant for you won’t pass you.” and there have been many, many times I hated to hear it pass her lips. Then, one day, it came true and I attended my first Pilates class. This was in 2008 after the birth of my son. I had had minor […]

Why Classical Pilates Still Matters

12 June, 2017 By Lynda Lippin 2 Comments

Over a decade after the word Pilates was deemed to be generic by the US courts, the divide between factions in our Pilates community is still very wide and very real. Regardless of how and where you were trained, or what brand of Pilates you teach, Classical Pilates is still important and still very much […]

It was like reinventing myself

2 May, 2017 By Marjolein van Sonsbeek 1 Comment

Like many little girls, I used to take ballet lessons. I loved it, I dreamed of becoming a ballerina, roaming around the house in a tutu all the time. But like many small children, I was a very good mathematical mind as well, very observant and inquisitive, which my parents mistook for an inclination to […]

Thushara Gibson

18 April, 2017 By Marjolein van Sonsbeek 1 Comment

It seems common now to talk of second or third careers but when I gave up corporate life to teach Pilates at 40, it did not feel like a straightforward decision. After more than 20 years of office life, culminating in a Head of Marketing role for a division of Thomson Reuters, I decided to […]
