I have changed for the better since Pilates

5 September, 2015 By Marjolein van Sonsbeek Leave a Comment

Pilatesglossy is interested in stories about people who are not star athletes, but are motivated and driven to look and feel better, possibly overcome some challenges and are experiencing good results with their Pilates practice.  Kelley is a client of Sunni Almond from Studio S in Temecula, CA.

Kelley Spring doing The Roll Up

I am Kelley Spring, 39, homemaker, California, U.S.A. I started with Pilates in 2010. My sister’s friend opened her own studio and we wanted to try it out. I go once a week for a semi-private with my sister. We workout on both the mat and an apparatus. I enjoy using the Trapeze Table. My favorite exercises are those that work on my hamstrings and upper back. When I first started Pilates, I had a five month old baby and around 60lbs of pregnancy weight to lose. My Pilates instructor, Sunni not only helped me get my body back in shape, but helped me gain physical strength as well. She has also helped me (and my husband) with overcoming poor posture.

I like that Pilates is low impact. I like that I can work deep into my muscles and really feel and see results without any damaging running or jumping around. The only thing I dislike about Pilates is that I can’t go to Studio S more often! 🙂  Studio S in Temecula, CA is my favorite studio and my favorite trainer is Sunni, owner of Studio S. She specializes in Classical Pilates. I specifically chose to go to Studio S, because it was close to my home and my sister has known Sunni for many years.

Yes, I have changed for the better since Pilates. I have not only lost weight and gained strength, but also an awareness of my posture habits. It has helped me focus more on how I can better use my core muscles during the day for mundane work, chores, etc., instead of carrying the load with my back. My goal with Pilates is to gain more strength and flexibility. I would love to achieve a stronger core area, than I currently have.

About Marjolein van Sonsbeek

I love Pilates! It brought my health back. I have been practising Pilates for more than 17 years now and have been a certified Peak Pilates trainer for the past 11 years.
I have never felt so fit, vibrant, energetic, supple and strong in my whole life. And I have no more pain. I do a Pilates workout 5 times per week on mat and apparatus. Every week I attend the classes (private and group) from my mentor and my trainer, Javier Velazquez. He is the best Pilates trainer in the world. Yes, I am very blessed that this extremely talented and experienced teacher is my trainer. Although I am Peak Pilates educated, I adore his very pure, original Joe sessions.
I have an open mind and I give a platform to Pilates trainers from all backgrounds, because we all do a great job! I do this for free in my spare time (which I hardly have).
I run a busy, fully equipped Pilates Studio Pilates Studio van Sonsbeek in the Netherlands in the middle of the historic center of the town Zoetermeer. I love my work, my lovely clients and my beautiful studio. So much fun and positive energy. I teach 6 days a week an average of 30 sessions; privates, duo's, trio's and groups.
You would do me a great favor if you like my page on Facebook! Thank you very much!
